I am heading to to Boston for three days I am there for work so I just have one afternoon free, but every evening- I haven't been to Boston in 6 years, but I recall a good time and good meal were not hard to find. All the same I would love some suggestions on what to check out. Oh ya, and as I a coming from the west coast I figured I would fly back from JFK and get a weekend in NYC. I have been to NYC in 20 years - so any suggestions on what to check out would be great. I have two days/nights in NYC.

Oh yes and the wife will be in toe.

In BOSTON;
-- The new Art of the Americas wing of the Museum of Fine Arts, designed by Norman Foster, is opening at the end of November and, I suspect, will be worth a visit not just for the thematic collection but equally for the architecture;
-- The Institute of Contemporary Art in the ever-emerging waterfront district, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, is fun and free on Thursday evenings;
-- Good food, as you noted, is everywhere; Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Market Restaurant in the W Hotel near Chinatown was a recent good dining experience for me, as are a number of restaurants in Cambridge (e.g., Hungry Mother and Craigie on Main).

In NEW YORK CITY:
-- The Sperone Westwater Gallery on the Bowery is another recent Norman Foster building, this one with a gallery-sized elevator;
-- The High Line elevated park on the West Side is a fantastic way to re-experience NYC;
-- And I, personally, love the re-scaling of Broadway into a more pedestrian and bike-friendly thoroughfare.

I hope you have a memorable trip!
