I'm going to be in Boston in a couple weeks and have some time to kill one afternoon into dinnertime. I wanted to check out a couple local dive bars/ microbreweries/lounges. I'm staying at the Embassy Suites Logan and was looking for a couple places downtown or in the North End (subway access). I assume there's not much near the airport.

Nothing commercial, something uniquely local.

Back Bar is great. I'm not sure where in Boston it is or if it is easy to get to. They make excellent cocktails and age their own meats.

Don't forget you can take water shuttles between Logan, North End, and Seaport. It is much better way to travel as a tourist than hopping on the subway this time of year. Check out Drink in Fort Point (Congress St).

Harpoon Brewery is in the Seaport as well.

Thanks for both suggestion and for the tip on the water shuttle.
