I've acquired four ties recently that I've reluctantly decided I probably won't wear, given the colors of my various outfits. In a couple of cases, the ties didn't look, in person, quite like their pictures (the two Brioni ties particularly), so I'll try to provide some detail on the colors. BTW, please excuse my poor attempts at producing images for this; I've used a borrowed point-and-shoot digital camera that is utterly incapable of producing the kind of detail I've seen in most of the threads in the Buying & Selling Forum.
All four ties are brand-new and unworn. All are what I would consider of fairly heavy construction. They, from left-to-right in the pictures below:
1. Borrelli: 58.5" long; 3.45" at widest point; appears to be a three fold tie, with the two layers of identical silk running through the entire tie and folded over three times. I should, perhaps, note that others have referred to this Borrelli construction as "seven fold," but I believe this description is incorrect. It might be close to what Chuck Franke refers to as "double four fold." In any case, it is quite substantial. Price $45. SOLD.
2. Brioni 1 (criss-cross): 61.0" long; 4.0" at widest point; Serial No. H060001; again two layers of identical silk running through entire tie. Price $40.
3. Brioni 2 (striped): 58.0" long; 3.60" at widest point; Serial No. B91042; this one with a different colored lining. Price $40. SOLD.
4. Drake's (purchased from STP): 58.75" long; 3.63" wide at widest point; Price $25.
All prices noted above are considerably less than I paid for these ties--averaging around 1/2 to 2/3 of my costs. Shipping costs are included in the above prices.
As far as I can tell, these ties are authentic, although I don't know of a way to prove this. The Borrelli tie was purchased from a seller in Naples. The two Brioni ties were purchased from two different US online sellers, the Drake's, as noted, from STP.
Some additional detail on colors: Borrelli: a little darker blue than appears on my monitor at least; I've included an additional picture of this tie alone; Brioni 1 (criss-cross): burgundy, gold, and medium blue; picture pretty accurate; Brioni 2 (striped): what looks like burgundy in the wide stripe is not nearly as red as it appears and is really more of a fairly-dark rust-brown shade; the blue is darker--really a navy; the light-colored thin stripe is a pale sky blue, and the other thin stripes are a fairly vivid peach and gold; Drake's: pretty close; the blue is a little darker (almost navy), and the designs are (a) a true red--the diamonds consisting of four spots--and (b) a pink spot with true red center.
