Looking for something to wear with jeans besides loafers/drivers and sneakers. Any good suggestions?

There is not a lot you can't pair with jeans. So pretty much any boot, and I even would say shiny will also work.

Red Wings. The Pecos model, if they still make it. They're boot boots -- not the high-top shoes people like to call boots these days -- solid, cowboy-ish, but with none of that elaborate western stitching. They cost like $200 and have lasted me sixteen years so far...

WTF is wrong with you people? You can pretty much wear any boot with jeans.

I was trying to be more subtle above, but ya.

Frye harness boots. Alpha as ****! May not be MC approved as they are more SW&D but they look good with any but the darkest jeans. Very comfortable. Last forever. My favourite casual footwear, had mine for nine years and they look better than ever.

That's why pumps and shoes and boots like these and these probablyaren't good choices to wear with jeans since denim is typically more casual. Of course, you can wear whatever you want but for the everyday person I'd stick with something with more texture and / or brogueing to match the texture of jeans.

And why not those? They would be awesome with jeans IMO. And they're not nearly as formal as you think they are. A black, plain captoe balmoral boot or the park avenue, it's an understandable concern. But while you need some texture and detail, past a certain point, anything goes. More texture and detail does not always make a shoe a better match for jeans. A suede gunboat won't necessarily look better than a beat up plaintoe monk. Really, the only hard and fast rule I can think of for wearing dressier shoes (stuff like harness boots does not fall into this category, but even those look better in brown IMO) with jeans is no smooth black leather. Black suede is fine. Unless the jeans are black or gray, in which case black is fine, but stay away from styles that are too plain, like Park Avenues.
