Boots with Jeans - suggestions please

I was looking through Men's Health a month or so ago and noticed a layout with a number of different looks focused around a few key articles of clothing (probably a regular feature but I hadn't bought the mag before). Â They featured a pair to TOD's boots that looked great and I've personally never worn boots with jeans and I really liked the look. Can anyone suggest some alternatives. Â I tried to find the same boot on-line without any luck. Â The closest I came was this from the NM site but I don't want suede, I want leather. I'm not looking to break the bank either.

I have these, in brown, that I got from ebay seller Grapevinehill. These are also RL, and are suede, but look very nice - I think someone on the Forum bought a pair. Personally, for jeans, I think suede is perfect. Lace-up leather ankle-length boots seem too dressy for most jeans. My roomate bought a pair of informal leather lace-up chukkas from JCrew, but they don't seem to have them in stock anymore... You've just missed the winter sales. If you have the cash, any of the English shoemakers (thinking C&J, mostly) should have something. Allen Edmonds makes a three-eyelet chukka, I think, for around 200-250, likely.

You said you don't want suede, but I cannot stop raving about my Chilterns in snuff suede from Crockett & Jones. I'm not a boot guy either, but I bought those and love them with jeans. If you change your mind about suede, I highly recommend the Chiltern.

Looks like you want a pair of RLPL McCallums. Try to see if you can find any around on bluefly or ebay, sounds like a perfect fit for you.

I bought the RL suede chukkas (Here) and wear them with boot cut jeans. Â I don't like how they look with tapered leg jeans but I wear a size 13 so YMMV.

Boot-Cut huh? I am a 12 and wore them with some boot-cuts the other day. I thought they looked OK, but thought that I would prefer straight legged jeans instead. Maybe I will try them with straight legged later on and realize that they look even worse. We'll see - still a good purchase for 110$ shipped.

Check out Yoox. Lots of boots (ankle and otherwise) on clearance right now. No Tods, but I think I know the style you are talking about, and there are examples in both the clearance (Fall/Winter) (some real steals) and the full price (but still a fraction of US retail prices) sections. I usually wear sneakers , but sometimes, when the occasions call for, I will wear either a buckle back pair of Pradas or a waxed/distressed pair of round toe Costume Nationals with my jeans. BTW, the Costume Nationals on the site are a real steal now, imo. Stay away from pointed toes - round toes and chisel toes are a lot cooler, IMO.

Or be the first in line to buy the Pradas I am selling. Will post pics soon...

Yes. Those are really close to the boot that I was talking about. The only difference was the colour and some of the detailing (as far as the look goes anyway) - they were an antiqued caramel colour and called a Harrow boot which doesn't turn up anything using Google. Ditto on all counts (though I am a boot guy...). Purchasing through P. Lal makes them more affordable-- approx. $290 US--the downside being a wait of sometimes more than a month, and the possibility of sizing issues if you are unfamiliar with C&J lasts. For a first time buyer, Mr. Doshi will waive shipping costs.
