What's the best waterproofing treatment for suede shoes or boots?

Also, how would I clean my tan suede Hurons, without damaging them?

(They're pretty dirty by now..looks kinda gross)
Saphir suede cleaner is what I use on my tan Russells. It does raise the nap a tiny bit though once you brush it out after drying but it does the job...

My impression is that all those suede waterproofers are basically the same. As I understand it, they create a billion tiny hairs that stand up on their end, which then allows the water to roll off without breaking the surface tension. So the stuff never soaks into your shoes.

I use Allen Edmonds' waterproofer, but there's also Saphir, Bickmore, Kiwi, etc. It seems like every shoe company and shoe product company on the planet has their own. I'm not sure all of these are unique formulas -- I assume that would require a ton of R&D money to produce. I know some sneakerheads also just use Scotchgard, which is super cheap.

The only thing I've read is that you should avoid formulas with silicone, which is supposedly not good for the shoes.

If you want to clean suede, Saphir makes something called Omni'Nettoyant that I've found works pretty well.

Is it normal for the order status to stay static(in my case, awaiting fulfillment) right up until your boots ship?

I placed my order on April 11th,2021..order status on Russells' site hasn't changed since I placed my order.

Ugh...got a email from Russell saying that my new Huron Thula Thulas are delayed another 2 months.

(the ship date I was expecting was Sept.13,2021.Now,it looks like mid-November before they show up.)

So frustrated.

Looking forward to getting my suede Hurons rebuilt.

(Thankfully, they said they could have them rebuilt, and back to me,in 7 working days).

Sending them back tomorrow afternoon.
