Thanks Paul for the advice, I will check CJ Galway 2 out sometime. I had a pair of skye, but I see the same issue on it too >.<

The G2 I tried was the regular E width. It was a bit too big for me overall, but that area was one of the worst. I'd like to try that 325 last on a D width. I must admit to Coniston Envy. I have the 365 in D and no problem with extra material there.

In fact in your photo it doesn't seem to bad. However on some of my boots it's actually worse, that's why I am trying to understand.

My cobbler said he can shrink the leather to make it better, which seems reasonable, but wanted to consult with you guys first

Do you know how does your cobbler shrink the leather? Is it possible to do?

I have a similar annoyance with my Jodhpur boots, as I posted before: is like having some excess material on the side and I will like to know how to correct the "bubble" that pops were marked:

Thank you! They are Allen Edmonds, brown cordovan shell Higgins Mill from a 2018 GMTO. About 20 of these exist, some from that GMTO and a few more from AEs recent trunk show.

Waiting today for a bourbon shell pair and a blue shell pair.

Gorgeous leather, clean stitching, terrific last, obvious care put into every detail – really the total package. Couldn't be happier and can't wait to start breaking them in!

They really do.

I wouldn't want that with something more refined but you do see that from time to time with more workwear-style stuff, and for whatever reason I don't mind it. More in harmony with the overall aesthetic, I guess.
