So trying to break in a pair of Truman’s in Cheaha. The leather is gorgeous with lots of character and the finishing on my pair looks solid. I’m just struggling with the side panels not overlapping the tongue. Particularly bothersome when factoring in the sharp edges of the speedhooks backing. Tried kilties in an attempt to increase the tongue surface. Still far from a pleasurable experience. Will try some more wears in the house but disappointed nonetheless.

I’ll update the group once I hear back for sure. I’m trying hard for the pair as I really like them. The leather feels soooooo good. Pull-up for days!

The company asked I send them pictures without the kilties. I did.

Upon review I was told they boots look up to spec and should break in and become more comfortable. I will keep trying. I will try to hammer and flatter the inside of the speedhooks so they’re not tearing the tongue/kiltie/ankle and if that doesn’t work I’ll have my cobbler take a look.

Did you happen to talk to them about the speed hook thing, if so what did they say about that?

I sent the pictures and indicated my discomfort from the inside of the hook. They said it looks good 🤷‍♂️
Yeah, tearing into the leather like that just isn’t right. I’m guessing it’s possibly the prongs on the back side not being set or pushed down correctly.

Maiden voyage of my first pair of Truman - gaucho moose with unstructured toe. I use an XL shoe tree to stretch the toebox. The boots were very snug even with thin dress socks. Overall, I dig them.

Sunlight vs overcast look.
