Loake Sedbergh boots on their first outing. I have been sceptical of Loake in the past when I have seen them in department stores. I visited their Oxford store recently and was impressed by these beauties. A nice store too with helpful enthusiastic staff.

These are discounted at the NPS/solovair factory outlet in Wollaston near Northampton. They are some the cheapest boots but perhaps more subtle with less pronounced toe boxes and stitched down soles instead of the contrast stitching. The suede and the gaucho leather versions of this boot looked good too but I ready have suede and brown well covered so I bought the black full grain. My first impressions are positive although I have already swapped out the flat laces. Deciding whether to chance a whole day in them yet?

Those look like 'real' boots, Mr Spud. Lovely. I can see some good looking boot shoe trees in the background, too. Can I ask where you got them from, please?
Ha ha thanks @Munky I picked those up from A Fine Pair of Shoes. Quite nice, but I think I give the trees from Herring Shoes a slight edge for finish and function. Also the latter smell super nice, and I have a preference for how their heel design is a bit wider. AFPOS may win on pricing, however, but that is marginal especially if you live in the UK.

I find they both fit true to size.

Absolutely, I often think boots look better like this than pristine.

I actually have almost the same pair except my Stow is burgundy with natural welt.

My Coniston’s (assuming that’s what yours are?) aren’t quite as well worn yet but they’ll get there eventually. I haven’t worn them much recently and the Snowdon’s tend to get the harder life.

Yes indeed. I'm enjoying seeing the process of going from new and attractive, to old but with plenty of character. Those are Conistons indeed. With that said, it does seem like the 325 last a touch narrower for my toes on the left foot so if ever another pair does come up in the 335 last I will mostly end up grabbing them.

I'd love to see the Stows. I did wonder about buying a burgundy or even a red one just to see how they would age. I feel like the pairs that start off bright have the most potential in terms of showing their eventual character and use.

Found some photos I took a while back. I like the character these have gained, they creased quite a bit from the start even though I have always used trees. I have grown to like it though after slight initial disappointment.

I find my Coniston’s a touch narrow in the toe but I briefly had some Cardigan brogues on 335 and found them to be similar. They were shell however so didn’t have much or any stretch.
