True, LOL... also a boot I think gives one more options.

I have debated the GYW vs HW debate with DFW in multiple occassions. My thoughts echo ddd. Is hand welted a superior construction method....yes....enough that it matters to weekend warriors not likely. I know that given my rotation it is unlikely I will need to concern myself with gemming failure.

Most of us probably don't wear our shoes/boots like say p.booth. trudging around NYC pavements everyday.

Can anybody rhapsodize/rationalize their love of the Galway for me? The design has always struck me as a bit too precious, particularly the "bat wing"—and the fact that they're so frequently made up in contrasting leathers. All that despite NAMOR's digging pic... I just want to understand.

[IMG] For me it is the colors and the use of two different materials. It just works.

The Galway is a top design, but only from perspectives other than the wearer's...the facing shape doesn't go well with the 82 last I think.

But then it is definitely distinctive compared to the standard derby boot design.

The bat wing design is utter perfection, great balance of formal and casual flair.

For me the bottom line was from the first time I saw it I liked it. I just knew I wanted one. Four Galways later I still always consider getting another one. No hard feelings, maybe this one's not for you. I know there are other shoes and boots that don't do it for me but they do for others. Some things are a personal taste thing, some people get it from the beginning and others never do. I'm not here to sell it to someone who doesn't like it, I don't make anything from EG sales.

I don't think anything we would say could "make" you get it. If you don't get it, you don't get it. Different strokes for different folks.

Thanks for everyone's Galway responses! I don't want to be convinced to like it---I just wanted to understand what others see in it.

It's kind of hard to quantify, but it's the best looking boot to me. In any makeup. The things that you seem to not like about it are the things I like the most about it. It can go from rugged to just plain ole pretty just by changing the last and materials (though they are all pretty).
