A question for my boot wearing brethren - there is a substantial gap between the facings once the boots are on the foot as seen here and here. It's the first time I've run into this issue on a pair of open laced shoes/boots (oxfords are another story). Am I being too picky?

Yes. Anyone who notices that, other than you, should be purged. Lol! At the end of the day you have to be happy with your boots. Some of us (myself included) have high levels of OCD, as we should, because a lot of money is spent on this stuff. All this to say, it's your call. There is no wrong decision as long as you're satisfied. Now, enjoy those awesome boots!

I would ask how do they feel once on the foot. The obvious question is do they feel too tight. Typically when a person has that kind of gap, it possibly could be an indicator of them being too small.

The strange thing is that they're not at all tight. It's a very comfortable last for me with the kind of light to medium weight socks that I wear year 'round.

we all post pictures of beautiful boots here, so I'm going a different route today. Going fishing with a friend and his son so I chose 10 year old Thorogood work boots for the job. These have held up remarkably well over the years, and they have taken a lot of abuse. So- workbook porn: IMG_2621.jpg
