I have looked at your boots over and over today. How does sizing go on these? Thanks.

Maftei button boots. Annual trip out to see the nutcracker means Christmas season has officially begun for our household.

    They're Loake Hyde boots.

So subjective but I went a half size up because they are narrow and elongated last in comparison to the 024 of the Chester brogue and I needed more room for the toes. It's the capital last.

In thinking about the sized chukka boots. I do like yours a lot better but a bit more pricy.

Guys, need your help on boots...

I have a Balmoral and 2 chukkas, one suede one box calf, all Dainite soles.

I need to add a pair to the rotation. I'm a suited guy during the week.

What goes with suits the best? A cap toe derby boot? A brogue derby boot?

    Insights needed and appreciated!

i am a suited guy too and have several flavors of chukka that go well w suits, none are cap toe or brogue. I have suedes like you ( C&J) and black calf Tetbury ( also C&J). Roger P has shown some beautiful St Crispins in this thread w brogueing and there are also some beautiful G/G's here. One of those will be my next, tho it will be like buying a suit. Good luck.

I prefer bal boots for pairing with suits. And the more formal the suit, the more closely I adhere to that preference. The right pair of chukkas can work - sleek and clean would be the priorities there. Some derby boots can work with suits - My G&G Thorpes, for example - same criteria apply as with chukkas to optimize suit pairing. I would generally avoid a brogue derby boot with a suit, though no doubt exceptions exist.

Two examples of derby boots that are okay with a suit, IMO:

Those Cleverleys are best example I have seen in Chelsea. Absolutely killer w appropriate suit color.

    .

Where did you get those Cleverly boots and what last is it on? They look like they would fit great on a wide foot.

Cheers. I got them from Leather Sole years ago - I'd have to dig up the box to find the last.

They are reasonably accommodating across the forefoot. Not super wide though.
