Hello shoeafficinados,

does anyone of you have experience with the balmoral boots of Carmina? They have their group MTO currently ongoing, and a nice medium-brown Balmoral U-Cap boot would be nice for my collection. At the moment I have the Crockett & Jones "Charlton" in chestnut calf and in black calf from the Paris edition.

Also has anyone experience with the balmoral and derby dress boots from Cheaney?

Enjoy your sunday and best regards

Pascal
I have a few of the Calway boots mate. The main difference to the original Edward Green Galway is Carmina will do a full shell boot whereas Edward Green will not (and the cost of course).

I've got balmorals in carmina, cheaney, and C&J in my comparatively small collection for this forum.

The Carminas that I have are hard to break in as the leather seems stiffer. It may take a couple months of wear to feel comfortable. It's on a Simpson last 1/2 size up. The Rain last which you're looking at has a more forgiving fit.

The Cheaneys are in their imperial line so it has a much nicer finish and very comfortable.

The C&J is the somerville handgrade line. It's a closer fit, very snug as you are familiar with. The calf leather and suede is nice.

I like all of them and won't give them up, but for me, I really like the cheaneys because they feel really good and look sharp 😀

Thanks stylenbwy,

the Carminas on the Rain last in UK 7.5 would fit me, and I already felt that the leather is not as subtle as of the C&J balmorals. I have the same ones from C&J as you have, and bought them in Paris. The Cheaney ones look relly nice.

Hence there is still a difference in the leather quality between the medium prices Spanish shoemakers Carmina and TLB Mallorca Artista Line, and the 300-400€ more expensive English shoemakers Cheaney Imperial Line and C&J Handgrade Line.

Your Carmina balmorals are special MTO shoes, are they?

Best regards

It was on their special MTO events where they open up their shoe designs. Let you pick every option, from leathers,lasts,stitching...

Mistyped and it posted!

I meant to say, it is hard to see what the final product will be after your design. It was a gamble, but Carmina did really well with it. Better than I had hoped. It also took almost 4 months for me to get them. I think it was because of the exotic croc leather.

Hello everyone, hoping to find some help here. I have been looking all over for a simple, darker brown suede jumper or service cap toe boot. The only one I’ve found that seems to fit the bill from a look perspective is Morjas (Morjas brown suede Jumper) but have otherwise struck out with Alden, Viberg, C&J, Tricker’s, Grant Stone, Oak Street and probably a few others I can’t recall now!

Do folks happen to know of anywhere currently stocking something like this?

Much Appreciated!

for european eyes this very broad gap at the lacing looks uncommon.
but I presume, that is the intended design?
Still breaking them in indoors, and lacing is not tight. But lacing design is wider than typical dress boots.
