Hello satorialists,

which boots, besides Balmoral and sleek chelsea noots, jodphur boots and chukka/george boots, would you also wear with a suit, in particular in fall and winter?

I am thinking about balmoral boots with rubber soles, and derby boots like the "Perth" and "Northcote" from Crockett & Jones, or the "Galway" boot in calf leather from Edward Green and the ones copied by TLB Mallorca and Carmina?

The leather ought to be calf and smooth, not a casual country grain, wax calf or something like that.

Colours would be all brown tones, black and burgundy.

What do you think?

Best regards

Pascal

Oxford and Balmoral styles are the most suitable. The sole should be flat, leather or rubber, avoid Commando and Ridgeway.

This is a thread (you guessed it) all about boots. I'm not like some of those guys who buy only shoes (Shoe Guys). I buy and I like to wear BOOTs (Boot Guy). So if you buy shoes or you only have a Boot or two (Shoe Guy) this thread probably isn't for you. Just go and find another one of those Shoe Guy threads instead.

Let's get this party started.

Saint Crispins PC Boot. It's one of the first real nice boots I wanted real badly.

Edward Green Galway. In my opinion it's a truly Iconic boot. You may not have one, but I can't imagine not at least wanting one or many if your a true Boot Guy.

The EG Galway comes in so many great combos, you just have to get at least one in Calf and Suede.

Once you get beyond just the casual it's still a great boot on the 64 Last. Heather Gorse or Zug just makes it that more weather resistant.

But even in the Country Calf the EG with Shearling is a fabulous winter boot.

Even though they may not be known for their country footwear G&G still makes a fabulous Split Toe Boot with the Thorpe. This picture is from Skoaks website. I hope the good folks at Skoak and @Leaves don't mind. I don't have a picture of my own yet as this particular one is on Pre-Order currently.

Rider Boot Company can certainly not be ignored as they make a number of very nice looking boots. For me I like cordovan and nothing beats a great boot in Walnut Cordovan.

Crockett and Jones certainly makes a good number of great boots. Unfortunately I only have a few, but one of those is the Lindrick in Cordovan for RL and the Crockett and Jones Islay.

Viberg certainly makes a different type of boot, but I couldn't consider any collection complete without at least one pair.

Carmina also does a pretty good job with Cordovan Boots. So a jumper in Cognac Cordovan was exactly what the Dr. ordered.

Alden however is where most of this really started. The J Crew Captoe in #8 is one of first boots I ordered.

Ofcourse, the black boot suffering from amnesia needed the fancy watch to ensure it turns up on time for the display session :p

Actually I am thinking about a Balmoral boot from Carmina on the rain last with burgundy museum calf and polo suede. I like burgundy a lot, yet it is difficult to get. I already enjoy wearing the C&J "Charlton" in black calf with brown suede, and my ordered "Charlton" in chestnut calf in dark brown suede is ready to be picked up in the first week of September in London.

Does anyone of you regularly wear balmoral or oxford boots with his/her suit?

Best regards

Pascal

I wear Balmorals quite often. I have a dark brown pair from Bodiley's and a black pair from Cobbler Union.

One issue with Balmorals is that my pants get hung up on the pull tab in the back. I started tucking these tabs into the boot and that really helps.

I noticed that your trousers are sometimes a little too short, 3 cm/1 inch more in length would probably solve the problem.

I have two pairs of balmoral boots. They (alongside my two pairs of CT Oxfords) are my go to footwear for suits. I have the Westminster from Bodileys and a black pair of Trickers I found on eBay.

This MTO had some unusual mods done too. Half gusset tongue and unstructured heel, the arch support was done like in their moccasins (can see the hump at the arch in the 2nd picture). I have 2 MTO's in production, one with an unstructured toe and one with the "soft structured toe" i believe they called it. Excited to see what that will be like.
Very nice boots!
Would you mind sharing the full details/mods of this pair?

When the winter is coming…
It is nice to see that I am not the only one wearing balmoral boots with a suit. I have never seen them on anyone else feet here in Frankfurt. However, the most often worn "dress shoe" with a suit is this one:

WARNING: These pictures show harmfull and satorially disasterous examples of modern footwear. Excersise caution when looking at them due to potential satorial shocks or trauma. Ask your cobbler for satorial advice before watching the pictures if in doubt. Rated SG-17 (Satorial Guidance, not for children under 17)

;-)

Kind regards

Really hideous shoes. The situation is not any better here in Berlin, well dressed gentlemen are as rare as hen's teeth.
