Hello guys, I’m sorry if I post a question and not a photo. I’ve seen a couple of times comments on this forum saying that boots with zips are something not to be considered, but I cannot really find information to explain the reason behind this opinion. In fact, you don’t see high end boots with zips, maybe there’s a reason. Could anyone explain what’s the problem behind the zip?

I haven't seen this mentioned as I love a good side zip. In fact I've been on the hunt for the perfect one for a while. I really like Saint Crispins (I consider them a high end maker) but am not a fan of their "V" shape on the zip. A wholecut side zip boot would be ?

Here are two MTM zip boots from ZEB along with some Carmina Zip boots.

in that case, there’s nothing wrong, but I’ve seen people mention it several times in this forum, that’s why I asked . Thanks!

Cheaney makes one too, which looks very well IMO. I think @upr_crust owns a pair.

I never pulled the trigger though because I'm afraid there will be too much room in the shaft of the boots which cannot be adjusted with a zipper.

Is that patinated suede/nubuck on the field boots? Looks very cool.

And by moving you mean you are leaving the cold North permanently or just traveling?
It’s olive suede, the bottom is Guimaraes patina.

yes I’m leaving Sweden permanently for Florence :) I’ll be studying bespoke shoemaking
