Yeah I can see how someone could have easily deduced that [IMG]

Pretty snooty response for a moderator and such an exemplary way of welcoming a new member to the forum!

    Woah there.

    Woah there.

Sorry just saying what needs to be said, I didn't appreciate the attitude. It's just a message board guys, no need to get worked up over other people's opinions on fashion as it's not black and white as some suggest.

Btw, you don't need to have 300 dollar jeans to be stylish. Style is not about money.

And now I'm moving back to California, where everyone is laid back and cool, right Fok?

Haha no worries. I am not bringing anything from outside of Styleforum. All is simple playing which I would refuse to contribute more than a few sentences towards.

I wasn't planning to reply to this thread again but I figure I would at least mention the above.

And i don't see any attitude. Really pretty simple.

LA Guy has probably been one of the nicest and most helpful people on here, and if you'll read around you'll see that he probably didn't mean to sound like anything, so if you wouldn't jump on people for their tone (which in the first place could go so many ways on an online, text-based forum) that would be lovely.

    Hey Jet,

I really didn't mean to offend [IMG] I really lived in LA when this board started, and then moved to Boston, but I'd been "LA Guy" for so long it would have been wierd, and maybe a little confusing, to change handles. The explanation for my handle is that simple. Also, a lot of my aesthetic is informed by things I learned on the West Coast, so I thought the handle was still appropriate.

    Fok.

Okay, guys, time to dial down the hostility. Let's discuss how it is actually easier to buy straightleg and/or tapered jeans these days, and how you can do so for anything from $5 from a thrift shop to $450 for some gilded age jeans to $800+ from R for 45RPM. For the record, I generally stay in the $120-$200 range. Anything above that I'll pick up on sale. I just can't afford $300 jeans [IMG]

certainly. in thrift shops you'll always find the 501s and 505s, in the mid-range (where denim is concerned anyway) you have APC, Tsubi, Cheap Monday, Julian Red, Diesel, etc etc. and well high end is just madness so let's leave that to the wealthier people on the boards. [IMG] likewise i try to stay below $200-250. as it is, the conversion to singapore dollars is painful enough.

Ummm...I was just seeing if it was possible to slightly taper a pair of jeans. Thanks to those who actually responded to my question.
