Boot options..

Sorry if this has been posted before...this search function only pulls up stuff from years ago. I'm looking to get a new pair of boots. I prefer 8" boots, but I'm not opposed to nice 4" or 12" either. For reference, the boots need to be casual, but not too much like a work boot. I've usually found styles I like among Frye and John Varvatos... I was wondering if anybody can comment on the quality of these and/or offer better alternatives. Thanks in advance.

I probably don't want to exceed $500. If possible, I'd like to stay between $300 and $450...but I would spend a little extra if need be.

I have two pair of Frye and I love them both. I will buy more over time because they have a look and function that makes them special. ​

One quirky criticism. I bought black boots which, for some reason had slightly different laces - the left was 4 inches shorter than the right. Because I like to double knot my boots, it was a problem so, I walked them up the the store thinking they would be willing and able to replace the laces. Not possible. The sales person commented that Frye has problems with laces and that the store only has a limited amount of laces that I could possibly try. She brought a small box of laces but they were all brown - no black. ​

It seems to me that a company with a great reputation, special product and has been in business for over 100 years could solve a repeated shoe lace problem. It creates the appearance that the company owns the customer and doesn't need to satisfy secondary considerations.​

Interesting...thanks for the feedback. I agree that you'd think that wouldn't be an issue.

Frye and definitely recommendable but why not get a custom one? itailor and some other good options for online shoppers can be good choices.​

I guess I never really thought about a custom option. I wasn't sure what experiences people had with them. I'll definitely look into it. Thanks.
