That is a very nice shoe... it reminds me of a Guadagnini violin. Very beautiful.

The St Regis is a classic design. C&J, Martegani, EG, Alfred Sargent, and I think Vass all have something in a similar pattern. Color/Patina varies brand to brand.

The "˜St Regis' is a 7-eyelets oxford (that makes it rather unusual). The style is an "˜Oxford' (in English terminology)
and (as a 5-eyelets version) is in every manufacturer's catalogue. Of course the proportions vary, that Bontoni shoe
has a longer toe cap than most (maybe all?) others.

Here is EG's "˜Chelsea',

Same style: toe cap, vamp (forepart), two quarters (sides), even that same "˜swan's neck' stay.
But the proportions are different, so the all-over look is another.

Reminds me of the sound of a Bergonzi violin.

thank you! most of the shoes I looked at, look a little too "serious" to me, too "round" like the Edward Green you posted, bengal-stripe. also most have boring colour. I like the longer toe cap from the two Bontoni´s, also the Bontoni´s look less "round", a little more "square-edged"... don't know if I explained well

I understand. I saw many models of italian Harris shoes, a brand which has its location in florence. In the harris' website you don't find many models, but the pics you posted remand me of some of their shoes I saw in a nice shoe-boutique in my town. Harris are quite eccentric, but also very classic.

Does anybody know if mario's in Seattle carries Bontoni? Bontoni lists them as a retailer but Mario's doesn't list them under brands carried.

these are mine Harris. You see, the toe is quite similar to the Bontoni, thou mine are two tone and quite squared. I saw also other models more formal and very elegant.

The 7 eyelets definitely throw me off. Mind you, I have a hard time accepting the 6 on my AE Park Ave and Chester. 5 seem to strike a nice balance for me.

The seven are what actually caught my eye- I like that shoe and the two-tone Harris very much.
