So let me to start this off by saying, I do not have a SS store by me, but I do have a a Bonobos. I am looking to purchase 2 new suits (navy and grey lighter than charcoal) for work. I tried on a Bonobos suit and loved the fit, comfort, and love that their suits have a bit stretch in them. What I don’t love is the lapel width. Now, I am not a big guy. 5’9”, 38r, 165lbs, but thin lapels are on the way out of style. So I was looking at an SS Lazio cut. I believe the bonobos jet setter is 2.5 or 2.75 inch lapels, while the lazio is almost 3.5 inches.

I am looking for advice on Bonobos vs SS and if I’m being ridiculous about .75 inches of lapel width

I'm having a similar debate with myself. Did you end up making a purchase? Happy with the decision?

I think its more about your actual width than just your height. I think 2.5 is way too slim but thats for me.
SS has a pretty good return program, atleast in europe. If you are not in a rush Id order a suit from SS just to try it on and return it if it doesnt work for you.

Can confirm SS's excellent return program exists in the US as well. Did their 3-suit try-on deal and it turned out none of them fit. Sent all three back and within a couple days had all my money back (less what I spent on expedited shipping to get them to me).

I think your lapel width preference as JO said should probably have more to do with your width and shoulders than your height.

Personally - I would argue that 2.5" lapels were .... at best.... "trendy."

3.5" might be a little wide, depending on your preferences, but I think will look better than 2.5. 3.25 I would think would be preferable.

Now, as far as SS goes, sight unseen could maybe shed some insight. In terms of your build, what is your drop (difference between shoulder and waist measure)?
