a few friends and i were in milan last month and i decided to pay a visit to an old friend giancarlo bonfanti.
for those who may have not heard of bonfanti, he is a small manufacturer of shirting fabrics that supplies to some of the finest makers around. he is linked to the more famous riva by way of family. when the founder of the cotton manufacturing passed, the firm was divided between bonfanti and riva, with bonfanti taking some of the very old silk weaving (converted to cotton) machinery.
