I find this suit interesting. A couple things I noticed. It looks to be a 2 button suit where the bottom one is buttoned only. The top one has the lapel rolling through it and it's so high the bottom is the buttoned one. Second the extreme open quarters. This is a style choice that I really like. It's a retro look but I think could work today. It has strong shoulders that match the upside down V formed by the quarters. Thoughts?

imo he looks really good but its not for me. nobody will crucify him for buttoning the lower bottom because of the button stance fo the jacket.

but notice how high the pants sits to limit the linen shown from the extremely open quarters.

it's an interesting look....

vox would go nuts for the roll of that collar, though.

I don't think people would go nuts because there doesn't seem to be another choice.

That's actually a paddock-style buttoning jacket. Technically, both buttons are supposed to be buttoned. Here I am in a similar jacket, but I have only the top buttoned:

At the approximate time of this photo, it might have been popular because it was favored by JFK. Will has a nice write-up on this on his blog, and sports a paddock-style buttoning point himself in this blog entry.

And yes: Darin is rockin' a nice BD collar roll.

I'm too lazy to search but what's the reasoning for this?

I have have no idea. I had it done because I think it is neato...Will theorizes that it makes you look taller.

Consider that a classic SB Savile Row jacket would come one of three ways: 3 button (usually soft rolled to 1, but for A&S, also rolled to to 2), 1 button (classic Huntsman), or 2 button paddock.

The classic 3 button is meant either to close at 2, or to close with both 1 and 2. A paddock, otoh, buttons both, but elongates the double buttoning compared to a 3 button done up with the top two (now, you would never attempt to button the bottom button on 3 button jacket, would you? Or the bottom button and what is the more typical 2 button?)

I mean, depending on how far back you go, the number of buttons and their configuration proliferates into great variety.

Bobby Darin's pants seem to go up roughly to his solar plexus.

Silhouettte reminds me of the Versace V2 line of the 90's.

Looks good. A little showtimey, and yes his pants are extremely high. I wonder if it would look okay with belt/trou showing in the quarters.
