Lately as I have been studying for my exams I have been having a hankering to play some board games and got around to thinking about some of my favourites and thought it would make for an interesting conversation. I love the classics like Risk and Monopoly. They always bring out the worst in people, which is fun when you aren't the one losing. Balderdash is another of my favourites as it can be extremely funny when played with the right group of people. I'm a huge trivia buff (favourite book when I was younger was the Guinness Book of World Records) and so love Trivial Pursuit, but can never find anyone to play that with. Not many people enjoy it. At Christmas my family got Settlers of Catan which I have heard tons about, but have not gotten to play it yet. Another new game I just heard about today that looks very promising indeed is Blokus. I'm definitely going to be getting that one as well. As far as card games go my family has recently become addicted to a game called double series. Doesn't look like much, but it's quite enjoyable. Lastly are two classic card games, Pit and Dutch Blitz. They're loud, fast, and can quite often turn mildly violent, which always makes for an interesting evening. I know lots of people laugh at me for enjoying board games, but I've always been something of a geek so it doesn't bother me.
