Yuketen true moccasins are made like socks with leather which cradles the bottom of the foot for an incredible comfort sensation. These shoes are handmade in Maine, U.S.A. with Horween’s Chromexcel leather expertly tanned in U.S.A. Chromexcel leather is significant and particularly suitable for moccasin construction footwear as a result of the unique double tanning process (combination chrome tanning and vegetable tanning) that produces luxurious malleable pull-up leather with rich pleasantly aromatic liquor notes. The handsewing technique applied to Yuketen’s Western Moc style is fondly referred to as “baseball stitch” because it resembles the cross-hatch seams of a baseball. The “baseball stitch” handsewing technique is more difficult and time-consuming than the traditional handsewn technique. Yuketen’s signature 100% rubber boat sole with grooveless siping is stitched securely to the moccasin leather vamp and Yuketen’s full leather insole offers unparalleled comfort with genuine moccasin style. Yuketen’s Western Moc is named after western boots that oftentimes feature embroidery design embellishment similar to the contrast stitch embroidery that is clearly displayed on the tip of the Western Moc. “Toe bug” is the western slang term for this decorative embroidery element. Yuketen’s creative addition of the “toe bug” design on a moccasin silhouette acknowledges the intersection of western and Native American cultures.
