While Blumenthal's methods were intreguing at first now it has turned into just another bit of food novelty for me. I dont really have much desire to eat his food, although I might do a lunch at the Fat Duck if someone else was buying.

Oliver I find a bit more fun. I understand that others think that he can be patronizing at times, but I do think that his heart is in the right place. His food is a lot more fun and the way that I think that home cooking (and many decent restaurants) should be.

I think most people who eat at Blumenthal's restaurant are people like people who buy abstract art...

They have lots of money, but don't really know/appreciate what they're looking at (or eating) but they want to appear to have sophistication, probably all based on the actual/genuine tastes of relatively few people who do "get it". So they drop coin, tell the story (maybe even, dare they, critique something that wasn't to their "satisfaction"), and let everyone know just how much it cost.

The average person (me included) doesn't really get most of what he's doing. I'd smile and nod, praying nobody realizes I have no idea what's going on... now if I'm being taken out... I'd definately want to be taken there, just for "the experience".
