Blue blazer and Grey pants? Classic or boring?

I can't explain why, but I am not so sure about this combo anymore. Is it too generic? Too boring? Too much of a uniform? old man? Mentally, I am associating this with the "blazer/khakis sailor" look. Does anyone have any pictures of this combo they feel look stylish?

Plenty of pictures around of people using it and being far from boring.

IMO it is easier to make a classic blazer and gray pants combination look good via accessories (pocket square, ties, shoes, scarf etc). It is much harder to coordinate with a loud jacket or loud pants. For example, I know I haven't hit that skill level yet to use Nantucket reds.

If the above accessories are still not dandified for you, the felt lapel flower or other similar ornaments will kick up the peacocking to a totally other level.

I'm 21, on the ultra-trend side of things usually, and the blue blazer/grey pants combo is one of my go-to "event" outfits. Responses have ranged from compliments, to cat-calls, to having a shirt torn as a "friend" from a class dragged me into a change room after our uni presentations.

It's anything but boring because there's a billion different ways of doing it. I usually wear some slim fitting grey cotton pants of near-paper thin fabric (I live in Aus, btw), with a slightly shiny blue cotton blazer of minimalist cut. Black shirt, white shirt or a tee depending on the event and how I feel. Sometimes I'll don a silk scarf in the evening in winter, maybe I'll change my shoes to something unusual. Go to A Suitable Wardrobe and you'll probably see Will doing an entirely different take on it.

tl;dr = it's a blank canvas, it's only boring if you let it be.

You have to accessorize well. And not "SF-well", but more of a "real life-well". Of course, slim fit is even more important to look young and interesting.
