I am 5' 7", with a 36" chest and 34" waist. I wear 36S in blazer and am finding it difficult to find any decent ones (or any at all) in my size. I prefer the slimmer cut.

What would you guys recommend? I may have to have some custom-made. If so, which designers/retailers would you suggest?

Thanks.

Are those measurements correct? If so, you have a 2-inch drop, meaning that slim cuts are likely not to work.

MTM/bespoke is always a good option for those of us with unusual drops. I'm aware of some RTW options for large drops, but have never heard of anything designed for a 2-inch drop.

That doesn't mean they don't exist, of course.

Assuming that my measurements are correct (chest 88cm/34-1/2" and waist 81cm/32") I, too, have a drop in the 2"-3" range, and I still find that most blazers/jackets that fit nicely around the shoulders, and that do not advertise themselves as "slim fit" or similar, fall somewhere between "we could take it in a bit for you, sir" and "hey, there's room for another me in here!" around the waist. It seems I am shaped like a powerline pole; a tall cylinder with a T-bar balancing on top. :)

I've seen a bunch of 36s at various BBs, so if you don't need a particularly slim cut it's worth checking out.

Before I turned to MTM, I went to Phineas Cole. Post-alteration, they fit me better than anything I'd seen elsewhere. Beware their in-store tailors, however.

If you look at MTM, both Coppley (the Biella model) and Samuelsohn (can't remember the model) are good choices. Samuelsohn may be better because they make fully canvassed jackets.

Good luck,

EI

How are Corneliani MTM blazers (Italian fabrics and made in Canada)? Mark Shale charges $900 to $1500 for these. Alternatively, I can have blazers made in Hong Kong (through a local store) for $500 to $900 (not Corneliani of course).

Your drop is only 2", whereas most slim cuts I have experience with are expected to work for 7"-8" drops. However, if you're only looking for the jacket, the slim cuts may still work. Fused: Z Zegna, Varvatos, Boglioli. Canvassed: Paul Smith, RLBL, Phineas Cole.

If you go HK, go to Chan, and maybe seek some advice from the folks on the forum who use their services extensively beforehand. This is a very good option.

Thanks. What's a "drop"?

The HK option was to have my measurements taken by a local tailor, select fabric here and have them make it in HK. The local tailor has shirts, blzaers, pants, etc made in HK.

I'm new here, but based on threads I've read, I am assuming a drop is the delta between your chest/jacket size and your waist/trouser size. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will correct if I am wrong.

Check out the Phineas Cole Cashmere or Wool navy blazer from Paul Stuart. It is excellent.

I am 20 yr old student, thinking of getting some blazers this winter would they look ok at this small age? and can they be worn on polos and half sleeved shirts with chinos? making it bit casual...
