blazer/ odd jacket question

Hi all

I am thinking of getting a blazer/ odd jacket. Instead of one from Brooks brothers (with golden buttons), i am thinking of getting one in cotton, navy blue, styled like a 2 button suit jacket.

Is such an option versatile to be worn with khaki pants, jeans, odd trousers under a smart casual setting? or do you guys stil prefer the traditional wool blazer?

Thanks.

Cotton is good, albeit less formal. So for casual its great! The golden buttons could always be swapped out for brown horn on the BB one though?

For professional settings, the traditional blazer is the better option. Since you mentioned jeans, that definitely is not your goal, so I would say avoid the traditional blazer.

My recommendation is to stick with a traditional (all season) wool blazer. It will serve your present purpose quite well and will allow you greater flexibility in meeting future needs.

If this is your first odd jacket - it sounds as if it might be - then I agree with the previous poster, a traditional navy blazer in wool, brass buttons and all, is a better choice. It works fine with jeans, but it also leaves you the option to dress it more formally with wool trousers.

I have one in wool, and a second in a beautiful cotton. But I find myself getting much more wear out of the wool one, for all sorts of occasions, from casual to formal.
