What might blazer buttons be used for? Are they a sort of lapel pin, or are they like studs? Thank you for your comments.

I'm assuming you mean navy blazer/ gold buttons?

All kinds of uses- fraternities, family crests, professions, professional societies, etc. Personally I find the look a bit nautical and/or ostentatious, but many argue it's a classic and no man's wardrobe is complete without it.

Wilkes Bashford had a great Brioni piece in 46L (normally my size) at their last warehouse sale for a great price. It had matte finish gray metal buttons that I thought looked really sharp. Alas, 46L is not my size in Brioni- I'd have needed at least a 48L.

Aside -- I've been looking for matt aluminium blazer buttons for my Rene Lizard cashmere blazer for a while. None of the usual suspects, Ben Silver, etc., have been much help.

And interesting what you write about Brioni sizes, too. I generally take 54L or 56L. (I buy jackets for winter slightly big, so I can layer under them.) but my lone Brioni suit is roomy enough to layer a jumper underneath the jacket at 54L.

    Peace,

    JG
