Blazer and jeans style ideas

So I've recently purchased two new blazers for a "smart casual" look and a "young and trendy" look. I had a question on what is the best way to pull off a blazer and jean combo. I like to wear my shirt untucked with the blazer to get more of a casual style. Is there anything important I should know before I walk out and make a mistake?

I Apologize for the bad mirror shots but it's all I had to work with. I'm 6'6" fit body type with an 44L jacket

-Don't button the bottom button of the jacket. Ever.
-Tuck in the shirt. That's not a casual style. It's a sloppy style.
-I would look to get darker jeans. The color of those jeans just conflicts with the jacket.
-I would wear a different colored shirt. Can never go wrong with white.

Summary: Buy white shirt. Buy deeper blue jeans. Tuck in shirt.

Thanks for responding! Is there any other shirt colors that would also look good besides white? I don't want to limit myself to just one color or style.

Experiment with contrasts (opposite side from the color) & compliments (left/right of color).
eg. Inner shirt contrasts Jacket + pants compliments Jacket.
or both contrasts Jacket. etc.

You can also go for monotone, different shades of the same color, though that might be slightly risky.

Poor lighting from your pictures might be doing you injustice too. Try taking the pictures outside in the day or brighter room lighting.

Thanks for the info darknight! Yeah, I'll try to retake the picture with better light. Unfortunately I didn't have anyone to snap a picture for me.

I plan to experiment with colors. I got some new shirts coming in from ratio clothing that I want to pair with the jackets. The shirt I have on in the picture is a OTR shirt.

I thought a blazer, shirt and jean combo was easy.... There is a lot of different ideas for going about this. Well at least I can say that I am very informed now. I'm just going to have to mess around and stumble on to what fits my style the best.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
