Wow, it's been a while. Haven't even lurked in about a year. I was putting off work and just stumbled over here. Had to get a new password sent to my e-mail and everything. Just wondering if any of the old-schoolers (join date of 2002, 2003, early 2004) are still around?

If y'all are checking this thread, lemme know you're still here. I feel like I'm practically a new member with all the unfamiliar faces. So far I've recognized about 3 usernames (Bradford, Tokyo Slim, aybojs... how are ya fellas?). Trying to ease back in to posting and such.

I should answer that with where I've been.

After I got to college (Fall 2003), I didn't frequent this site as often. But I still lurked. Then job/internship + college work/research kept me off any online forums for a while. Ever since Katrina, I've just been trying to get things in order back in NOLA (haven't spent much time with online communities). Now, I've finished spring and summer semesters after returning to Tulane in January... so I finally have a break, kinda. I'm actually finishing up a research paper at the moment and decided to take a break... which led me here.

Thanks, Versace. Glad to be back. Planning to spend some more time on the forums... a bit rusty at the moment.

Glad to hear you're back in NOLA, weren't you up in the Northeast somewhere? That must have been really weird, to be the evacuee student.

How's the student life? What are you studying now?

Life is good here. Just working and keeping busy.

Bradford,

Thanks man. So happy to be back home. I actually spent the fall semester at Washington & Lee in Lexington, VA (so close enough to the Northeast for me, but still VERY Southern). It was a pretty good time; met a lot of nice people. And -- certainly -- plenty of stories from travels and parties. The school was very friendly and understanding with all that was happening on the Gulf Coast at the time. They welcomed me and the other New Orleans area students with open arms. All in all, the semester was kinda like studying abroad (mountains, snow, seasons that change, rural southwestern Virginia). It was nice to experience college as a visiting student. Of course, the administration and students did so much to make us feel at home. They even had a special dinner at the dining hall where they served red beans & rice, crawfish, jambalaya, hush puppies, and other New Orleans specialties. And I'll never forget the kindness of the student body: donated clothes/cooking supplies/shampoo/cups.

That said, it is so good to be back in New Orleans. This part of the city (near campus) is feeling like normal again... just a lot of construction and renovations. I'm excited to be a part of the city rebuilding. I'm studying Political Economy, with a second major of Psychology and a minor in English. After graduation (just a year away), I'm hoping to work with local government or in economic development/riverfront planning.

Good to know all is well in Arizona. Don't work yourself too hard. You excited about Amare coming back to your boys? I think -- with him healthy -- y'all would have a good chance to win in a third-straight Conference Finals appearance. Just gotta get past my Hornets first, haha

Sup dude. Glad to see all the chaos in New Orleans didn't set you back too much. Good luck with everything, and hope you enjoy coming back to the forum.

Thanks, y'all. I've been skimming other threads and seeing some familiar names (A Harris, LA Guy, Steve B, j, image WIS). Just like old times, haha. Tokyo Slim, I wish that image were still showing... no idea what it was.
