Blasphemy? Can pinstripes be changed?

I found a suit that I very much like except for the pinstripes. They happen to be very thin and spaced very wide - say 16 or so across the chest - so there aren't a lot. If it makes any difference, the suit is charcoal and the pinstripes are light blue. I was bravely/stupidly wondering if there were any options for removing or somehow altering them?

I'm prepared to hear "rubbish!" at such thoughts because it sounds just as crazy to me as it does to you, but I thought I'd at least pitch it in case there was some magical option. Lacking that, I'll chalk it up to "close, but not quite" and move on.

^^ I was thinking of doing this. I found an orphaned pinstriped suit jacket and was thinking of getting a solid cloth and making the stripes with a ruler and a pen.

Should I use a chalk since it is chalkstripes ?
