Of the wooly sort. To add a layer of colour and texture to a bed. Suggestions much appreciated. Cheers.

House is georgian, high cealings, oak floorboards, usual original features (mouldings, huge sash windows, etc.). Furniture style is eclectic: 18th C bureau, a pair of french thirties club chairs, a chaise from Plinio il Giovane, etc. The bedroom is dominated by a plain custom wardrobe I'm getting made, which will be painted in light grey with a a couple of more colourful doors. The bed is practically invisible: very simple, platform, white and natural wood -- from Ikea! There's a a yellow swan chair by the window, a kind of multicoloured seventies storage tub on wheels, an vestigial fireplace without frame (big books and a convex mirror inside), a pile of wine crates for a bedside table. I need another chair but haven't decided what to get -- maybe something Danish and wooden. I'm also looking for a Bauhaus rug of sorts or something else geometric. As you can see (well, imagine) the bedroom is messy and just about anything would fit.

I just ordered a stripy mohair one from a UK site, interestingly. It goes with my colours sort of like a pocket square does with one's clothes: not matching but harmonising.

No fur for me unless it's a byproduct of the food industry. Also, I bought a reindeer skin in Norway and my girlfriend refuses to step on it.

More throw suggestions still welcome though -- I can see myself buying another one.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
