I have been interested in trying to find some blake rapid brands to look into as I like the idea of a (possibly) softer shoe that is still well constructed. I'm having some trouble finding options of manufacturers to look into though. Any ideas?

Aubercy makes a very nice shoe. They have construction options that include blake (and, of course, also handwelted goodyear).

Ime, blake rapid is a little stiffer than Goodyear welted shoes, which makes sense to me, since BR is basically double soled. You might try @RIDER of Rider Boots. I think his stuff is/was made by Martegani. His site seems to be down, but Francos, where Ron used to work, still carries Martegani.

If you want something that's softer than Goodyear, I'd try regular blake or even some handwelted and GY. An oil-soaked leather sole like on Alden's unlined chukkas and loafers would be soft.

I've a pair of blake chelseas with a dainite sole. They felt like a pair of fully broken in GYW shoes right out the box.

Marteganis are blake rapid. I like mine a lot, but I have not noticed that they are much softer than my goodyears
