Black tie on opening weekend or just opening night?

We all know opening night of the symphony is black-tie optional. Does this extend to the whole opening weekend, if the Saturday night program is the same as the Friday night?

I do not believe so. If the program is the same, then opening night is the only night requiring black-tie. If the program is different, then it may be that it specifically noted as "Opening Weekend", in which case black-tie would be appropriate both days.

I have no source for this, just some vague memory of hearing something about this once.

Wear it to both. How often are you going to have an even somewhat legitimate excuse to break it out?

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
