Hello all,
New to this forum and I had a question. I am going to vegas soon so I bought a solid black suit. I wanted to wear a orange bow tie with a white anchor pattern but I am unsure of what color shirt or pocket square to wear. Any thoughts?

Can I ask what you're dressing for?

No matter what the answer is, return the black suit and get gray or navy.

Then don't wear an orange bow tie with anchors on it. A black suit is a touch humorless, and an orange bowtie with anchors on it is rather silly. The two don't mix.

Get a gray silk regular or bowtie. Dark red or deep purple could also work. Some pattern would be an okay thing, but it should be very subtle.

Either way, if you're in a black suit, then wear a white shirt and a white linen handkerchief.

With that bowtie, everything else is irrelevant. Seriously, ditch the bowtie, it sounds grotesque.

The tie is a nonsense, return it.

I would not do it. Halloween colors.

See, this is me hewing way more "Brooks Brothers" than most on here, but I think an orange bowtie with anchors on it would be nice on a person who looked good in orange, with a navy blazer, OCBD, and khakis, for either a person tremendously comfortable with himself during the day (probably a Southerner), or on a person who looked good in orange at a relaxed, possibly outdoor evening event during the summer time. With a black suit, it would look rather self-conscious.

I agree with all of this as long as the person wearing it was under seven years old.
