This will be for a semi-formal dinner party.

A mostly black, dark blue, dark gray plaid tie? Somewhat similar to a glen plaid.

A black grenadine tie.

A blue grenadine tie (brightness between blue and powder blue).

I initially liked the 2 black ties to add to the black/white theme going on, but maybe I need to introduce some color into everything and go with the blue grenadine.

If it makes any difference, the plaid black, blue tie is a slim tie.

Need your help fashion gurus! Thank you in advance.

I agree with you. The first two ties. The blue you are describing doesn't sound good.

If you are open to a new tie...IMO colours like green and dark purple work well with black and white.

I'd go with the black grenadine tie.

A powder blue for a formal dinner might be a bit much. Unfortunately, wearing a black suit and black tie might also indicate you are going to a funeral.

If you are going to wear black suit then avoid the black tie. I suggest that you wear the blue grenadine tie with your chosen clothing. Try to be adventurous with your style.
