I know, another post on black suits...
I am always attracted to black in the store but have read so many times it is not appropriate outside of formal wear. I have seen makers from BB, RLBL (beautiful !), Tom Ford, Zegna, etc, that offer suits in black. I am tempted by its simplicity...where do you stand on this?

Never to work.
Only when I am out of work and have a job as a waiter!

Go for as darker charcoal..

It is not black and it is richer and more elegant.

At work,no.
But black suits are great if you want to cultivate a nightclubber, or hipster, or secret agent, or artsy or some other outre' vibe.
I have a couple:happy:

I would only wear a black suit to a funeral. Also have a white cotton pocket square in case it is needed (silk, and your wife's mascara, do not mix).

There are a number of better options for a business suit, black really shouldn't be considered an option for the stylish in my opinion.

Black is Fashion, not style.

They have their place, and I believe that ultimately a well fitting black suit beats a mediocre charcoal one.

I have two black suits. Typically they are only used for funerals or more formal events not requiring a tux.

I just retired my Black Armani suit that served me very well, even in professional settings. It is not uncommon to see black suits in offices in Los Angeles. In the wild, they are not hated as much as they are here on SF.

Funny that you put that poll up. Since you've read threads about black suit on SF already thus you should pretty much know the consensus on black suits around here.

In the end though, no one will care enough to physically stop you from getting a black suit.

I'm a musician. I have one for when I'm required to wear it for a performance. If it's not required, I don't wear it.
