Buttt, put Mr. Mahon in a Fadora, and maybe...

Yeah, that picture is the counterpoint I thought of; however, that is a navy suit, and he is English, where bold stripes are more common for business.

Navy definitely helps lessen the gangster feel, as the contrast isn't so stark. And this gentleman doesn't strike me as gangsterish, more like a summertime suit due to the lighter shade of blue, bold but not anyway gangsterish. I'm thinking our friend may want to look at the nice charcoal with more subdued pin if it is in his size to be on safer ground.

I think the guy in this picture should look at a suit in his size, too.

Yes, I agree, and some proper sleeve/shirt cuff would be nice too. No cuff really bugs me. and his right shoulder is showing underneath the padding. yuck.

I would think a Black Chalkstripe suit is more "gangster-ish". Why not pick up the suit and see if you like it? In a worst case, you see it in person and decide to return it. You really can't go wrong at that price.

I picked up the charcoal corneliani.

The suit looks pretty good IMO. I have always wanted a flashy suit for night out. This would be a perfect suit for it. My question is mainly fabric weight and the size.

The suit's fabric looks light to medium. Would you guys agree? or Should I ask STP? Do they even know??

    And the size: Size Euro(US): 48(38/32) 50(40/34) 52(41/35) 54(42/36) 56(44/38) 58(46/40) 60(48/42)

I am typically 42US (52EUR), but why does it say 52(41/35)? Is Corneliani suits are tighter fit in the chest? What about shoulders?

    Thanks

This is the scale STP always uses for Euro-US conversions. Someone hopefully can tell you whether it is accurate for Corneliani.

This look like the suit from their instock program that retails now for about $1295. Fabric is a 4 season weight. The 52E should fit you cause the 54 euro is going to be like a 42.5R.

On a side note would this suit be approriate for an interview with Neiman Marcus i have in May? I wore a black pinstripe suit with blue stripes last time? This suit has been growing on me a lot in the past few weeks.

I've got a black (or dark charcoal or anthracite, etc.) with subtle off-white chalk stripes. I wear it quite often, though more to social occasions than to the office. But, if I have a dressy social occasion after work, I have no qualms about wearing it during the workday and no one's ever suggested it's a gangsterish suit. I guess it helps that the chalkstripes are conservative/subtle and very different from the above photos.

    That's pretty gangsterish.

Maybe, but not in a comical sort of way. More in a very styling Michael Corleone sort of way.

So i bit the bullet and tried it, if i don't like it i can just return it i guess. I figured if i wear it for my interview we have a group dinner and can keep wearing it then as well.

I wish they had that Corneliani in my size. I would pick it up in a heartbeat.

I went to Neiman Marcus today and just realized that my diet has been working better than I thought. I tried on suits that were a 42L and they were a little big (used to be a 44L before I started my diet). Instead, a 41L fits me perfectly (even a 40L kind of fits). So I went on STP and realized that they still have the E52L in stock, which translates as a US 41L. I just snagged that puppy. Hopefully it'll fit when it comes in.

A side vented suit in black with pinstripes? I'd grab it, especially for that price. Brioni does a lot of suits like this in their neiman marcus ads, I think it is extremely classy-- especially when worn with a crisp white shirt, white pocket square, and a tie with silver and black patterns, like one of these:

by the way, are the sizes listed european (52, 52, etc.) or american??

    I just got this
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
The stripes are obviously not as bold as white. Will it look too black to actually wear around? I've always been an admirer of bold looks but I don't know how bold this will actually be. The fit was perfect so i figured for the price might as well take a chance...
