For those who vote All shades or Brown over Black at night, what's your reasoning?

I voted black only, but I'm not really militant about it. I wouldn't go home and change, for example. But I do think black looks better at night -- brown too often just looks muddy. Better to have those gleaming black shoes, especially if they have a little something extra, like a monk buckle or contrast stitching.

My reasoning? Black is easy (to look boring). I don't attend board meetings, I don't have to look like an executive nor banker (no insult meant chaps!) so I will choose what can show some patina and "life" for lack of better descriptor. While nicely shaped black shoes can look sublime I'll take a nice shade of brown over them any time. I know Sator will disagree with me

but I especially love brown boots, even more at night. P.s. note the post icon - I wil stick with my answer! edit:

Actually, Doc brings up a good point. Lighting may make me change my answer a little. Paradoxically I am more likely to wear black shoes in a lower light environment such as a bar, club and the like. Have not done that in a while though.
