Hey there guys - do you think these shoes are too formal for a nice night out kind of deal - nicer jeans, nice shirt, maybe a jacket:

I'd say it's appropriate- loafers are informal enough for jeans- but I have a feeling you're not going to get a lot of love for that look on this forum. The bit loafer+jeans+untucked shirt is just a little sleaze for many's tastes. I'd rather point you toward a boot or lace-up blucher, or at least a loafer in a shade of brown.

All depends on the rest of the outfit. If you're doing this with a pair of super-distressed flared 7s and an ill-fitted button-down, you're going to look like a dickhead. By the same token, if you wear faded levis or Banana Republic jeans, you'll look like every dad in Beverly Hills.

I happen to like loafers with jeans. However, I'm not a huge fan of bit loafers (though in general I love Ferragamos), and I don't think black works very well with most jeans. A good brown loafer (even the brown version of that) with some slightly faded or dirty-wash jeans worn with a polo or casual button-down looks very nice for weekending, IMO. I would go for a sleeker shoe for dress though, but that's just personal.

I have a pair of gucci loafers, no bit or branding from awhile back that is just ridiculous. They're black pebble grain and the trim where it meets the sole is brown. Worn with the right jean they're amazing.
