Recently saw a couple of BBBF ties online but they are 2 1/4 inches wide. This seems thin to me but it looks good on the models. BTW, I know it would not work with wide lapels. Most of my suits are RB Black Label. Any thoughts?

The ties look best worn with the thin lapels of BF or similar jackets.

2.25" ties are too narrow to be worn with any non Prada, D&G, Versace,... type suits.
A more modern width of 2 7/8 can be worn with RLBL, Hickey, Jack Spade... type suits.
I much prefer ties that are between 3-3.25"

I diasgree, I think a BBBF tie would work fine with a RLBL suit. No doubt it's a very slim tie but an RLBL is a pretty slim suit, with a slimmer lapel, granted it's not as slim as designers, but by doing so it puts more emphasis on the tie. having a designer suit with a super slim tie and a super slim lapel, the tie gets pretty much lost on the suit, but puts more emphasis on the suit. It in my opinion shouldn't really match, there should be some contrast. similar to how you would pick a tie for a shirt, you wouldn't want to pick a tie with a pattern too similar to your shirt.

I have a charcoal gray wool one that looks really nice underneath a V-neck sweater.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
