I've seen sauce wear a black denim jacket with blue jeans in the waywt thread, but what's the popular consensus on this? I guess it looks better if the jeans are not too dark and/or have some wear on them. Only asking because I'm considering purchasing this type of jacket, but don't have any black jeans at the moment. Thanks

its been a big part of my winter look... with hoodie underneath or without... ive got a nudie connie black denim jacket, and a slim fit levis trucker jacket in limo which is their word for black i guess. i think its a cool look and i dont think it matters one iota the degree of blackness of the jacket or how deep the blue is in the indigo.. ideally i think semi faded and worn on both is ideal but thats just my opinion..

But overall i think its a great way to get around the whole denim on denim debate around here.. I think black on blue is the way to go... anydoubts check out LEO in the movied THE DEPARTED he pulls is off... just be sure to mix in alot of navies and olives and wine colors as far as tops go as well as olives i think its a great color palette to work with.. muted yet interesting and definately winter..

I think it's best if the jeans have some green undertones, and are a bit worn. Think 5EP DW or Earnest Sewn Maz Dark.

DGP, that's what I was leaning towards. I think Kiya's look is awesome, but again I think it comes from the jeans having some fade. I'll still end up getting the jacket most likely and wearing it with whatever, as seamless said, but was just curious as to what others thought.

I have been wearing black knit tops with jeans for years and it seems to work when the jeans have some wear but are not too light. I don't see why it wouldn't work with black denim too.

I'd also try it with gray jeans, could look very cool.

If your jeans are a nice deep indigo, it still works pretty decent. Different type of black jeans or darker grey ones will work as well. I wear my black (dust) drkshdw jacket with my pbjs and my black j. lindenbergs (look like the black dior raws). The j. lindenbergs look the best out of the two but I kind of want a dark grey or at least more matte black jean for it though.

What kind of black denim jacket?

yeah im interested in what kind youd get as well,... I personally had a hell of a time tryin to figure out the black jean jacket thing.. In my experience the levis regular black jean jackets they sell on their site or did anyway were waaayyy to big and blousy or and hung too low.. tryin to find a vintage jean jacket is easy except when your lookin for a black one... i had to go through an outlet levis source online to find a slim fittin black trucker jacket model 70516 if i remember correctly its like 98% cotton 2% stretch and fits and looks pretty well i suspect it will look better over time it does have the pleats on the front and pockets on the outside and inside as well.

also you might wanna look into the nudie conny its definately impractical no pockets anywhere except on the breast of course.... but a great fit and it is dry i can already see imma have some great wear and fades on it in time,... good luck keep us posted... also the nudie conny looks hot but i never would have bought it for $275 i got mine on ebay for cheap..

all praise ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, basically I'm leaning towards the conny or something I can find on ebay, as well as a type 2 repro in indigo...I've always been a fan of the denim on denim look if done well, but also for when wearing casual pants and such. Thanks for the input so far

The "palette" sounds a bit booring IMO.

To the OP I don't like to wear denim as anything exept for pants.

I recently bought a denim jacket to wear with jeans. I can't really tell if it's black or just a dark blue. I don't have laser eyes and dont worry about color undertones that others do around here. I really like it...

Thanks man, yea, I have no idea where you'd find this w+h jacket. I never even knew they made such a thing until I saw it sitting on the sale rack. YOu definately can't go wrong with the 811's. The cut is just perfect. Takes them a few weeks to stretch out in the waist, but after that, they're perfect. I'd buy true to size in them.
