Hi, what brands are good for a light weight single breasted cashmere dress overcoat?

I have a nice black one but it's kind of worn out. I was looking at Norstrom's own label. I'm looking for something around 400 dollars plus. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a heavier overcoat but I have one that's cashmere but extremely warm but thinner and hence lighter and not as bulky. What about Norstrom?

I looked at the Faconnable cashmere they have and it is a nice coat and I'm sure they are marked down at the men's sale. They had the same coat with a Nordstrom tag for $200-$300 less in a cashmere/wool blend that felt the same. It is very soft and I have not felt a blend feel that good since. Since I ride the metro daily I went with the Nordstrom coat and I am happy with it. I believe they had them for @$400 on sale now.

I bought a Polo Blue Label Pure Cashmere with Felt Collar to go with a Tux for special occasions around 445. I have had a gray one in the same make for around 11 years that sees weekly cold weather use and looks perfect.

DuncanM,
Thanks for the input. I'll check out Nordstrom. I better get something in my size. I got something off a sales rack at Nordstrom one time but it was just slightly too small for me. I was mighty annoyed that I had to pay retail.

I just like classic stuff that lasts for years. I always find it ironic that coworkers compliment me for having nice attire but I know some wear far more expensive stuff than I do but I try to choose attire that looks classic. It's hard to explain. Not gaudy but always has that classic look and I always try to get my attire to fit perfectly.

I have a Hart Schafner & Marx 100% cashmere in a camel (from 3 yrs ago) and I got a black HSM 100% cashmere from wifey for XMAS from Macy's. She probably paid about $500

I have a Cashmere/Wool Blend Saks house brand bought at the Saks outlet. Very reasonable, about $200, marked way down! It's a Colombo Cashmere, and even though it's 15/85%-Cashmere/Wool, it feels as good as a value priced 100% Cashmere!

Look at some Cashmere/Wool blends before you go with 100% Cashmere. You might find that they feel and look just as good, and you might get more wear out of the blend overcoat even though the price will be less.

Said Perfectly. All you need to do is spend about 2 minutes when you get home to wipe the jacket let it dry and later brush it.

If you get a few good quality ones you can rotate them and they will last even longer.

Also stay within reasonable lapel widths and it will last forever.
