Hello, new member, long time lurker. I've been looking for some nice black boots, preferably ones that can go along with both jeans and dress pants, but mostly jeans. Can you give me some suggestions? I searched the forum, but did not find anything in my price range.

If you didn't look immediately after he said that it won't mean anything. Honestly there won't be too many suggestions matching the criteria you laid out. A good pair of boots that is versatile and a good value is going to likely cost over a hundred. Look at the buying and selling forums here, eBay and maybe Superfuture. You'll probably need to wait for sales as well if you plan to go through a retail esablishment. Another option is to go to the WTB (Want to Buy) section of the forum and see if you have any luck putting up an ad there.

+1 on searching advice and difficulty meeting requirements. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it won't be easy. Honestly, I think one of the few boots that work with both denim and dress outfits are the umbiquious black chelsea boots. If you get lucky you may be able to find a used pair around this price.

if u really need a junky black pair that doesnt look too obviously like junk, theres a steve madden one on sale on the macy website. i think it was 90 marked down to 45. super cheap, u can wear it out when the weather is absolutely miserable. ur shoes will prob be covered in snow at that point anyways. i dont know how the leather looks close up also, it could look much worse than pictured.

Dont really like, but yes you could wear them out in the snow and rain to a club where they would get trampled on... 99% of the population would never know the difference.

If you have a Filene's Basement in your town you could check the clearance section there and hope to get lucky. You're not going to find Grenson balmorals there, but I've found some decent stuff. Boot-wise I have a pair of Gordon Rush chukkas that I picked up for $30. They are reasonably nice looking, and while some here have questioned the brand's construction quality, they've held up reasonably well over the past six months. I certainly wouldn't have paid retail for them (200+) but they were a great deal for $30.
