Hi all. This is my first post. I just picked up this Southwick jacket. It's a black and white houndstooth pattern, and I'm wondering what to wear with it (aside from a white shirt). I'm assuming belt and shoes should be black. Any suggestions on type of trouser?

Charcoal is good.

If you go charcoal, make sure the shade is sufficiently different from the jacket so as not to look like a mis-matched suit from a distance. You could also go olive, and navy would definitely work.

Consider a medium or dark brown for the belt and shoes. If you wear charcoal slacks and black shoes and belt with that jacket, the color palette is going to be very drab.

Bright red works - say, dark jeans and a red turtle-neck?

Thanks for the suggestions. Trousers in a dark charcoal would be good.

I really hadn't thought of brown shoes. Would a merlot work?

I'm not sure I could pull off a bright red turtleneck, but maroon or burgundy might work. Thanks for getting me to think about this.
