Black and white herringbone tweed jackets

I don't think black and white herringbne is a terribly versatile pattern for a tweed jacket.

Maybe it's just me, but I have troube wearing pants in any most shades of brown with them, and gray flannels just seem off too.

Am I dead wrong about this?

Gray is more versatile. Less contrast between the colors in the fabric.
