Bison Leather care?

I just got a wallet from Il Bisonte in Florence. It is made of "vacchetta, a fine, vegetable tanned leather" according to the company's website.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cleaner or conditioner? Or can I use the same products I use for calfskin.

Thanks.

Your wallet sounds very cool. I have HS Trask bison shoes and generally just use dubbin on them. However, do not assume this would be the same for your wallet, as the leathers were probably prepared differently. Best to contact the seller/manufacturer to find out for sure. Until then, perhaps a little neutral shoe cream now and again.

I just checked out their web site (Il Bisonte, and it appears from their "contact us" page that they are not in fact using bison leather, but rather vachetta, which is a vegetable-tanned calf or cow leather. The bison is just their symbol. Therefore, care for your wallet just as you would any other fine calf item, and enjoy it.

Thanks Teacher. I had just assumed that it was bison leather; thanks for clarifying the meaning of vachetta.
