Can some one describe what birds eye looks like and if it is a desirable suit material.

Bird's Eye has a tiny dot in the center

This is the way I've interpreted this.

Both are birdseye. Nailhead looks like little squares rather than ovals (I think)

I used to dislike birdseye but i have changed my mind...
It is not as flat as a plain solid worsted..It has more depth and I like the rich effect compared to solid worsted especially if you go for a dark grey or a navy fabric.

Honestly I think most people think they're one and the same. But as for me, I have convinced myself that the circled/diamonds with the central dot are bird's eye, and the ones devoid of the dot is nailhead. The pics of the BB suit I hade for sale recently was a great example of the latter:

Nailhead has a grid pattern of squares. Birdseye has rounded lozenges.

The suit I'm wearing in this post is a grey birdseye.

I'm a big fan of bird's eye. It definitely adds texture to plain colors. You don't see much of it though.
