Recently I came across a picture of Kirk Kerkorian and thought he had a polished and easy style. He had the perfect shirt collar to wear without a tie. Paul Stuart calls this their Cooper Collar. Not sure what this collar is generally called. I'd like to find other resources for this look.

Just yesterday I was in the Las Vegas airport leafing through a book about LV's history. I came across another picture of KK and realized he's got some panache.

Any tips on where to find the style of shirt he's wearing?

With a face like that, you'd better be dressed impeccibly.

Camp collar, with no button hole at the band. Just like AK would make. Very nice.

Let's hope we look that good at 89 and are still able to play tennis daily.

Yeah, Kabbaz is always advocating those collars for wear without a tie. I dislike them for the same hard to quantify reason I dislike one-button jackets (formalwear excepted.)

This guy is more old school than the old school itself. He can call GM or Chrysler CEO any time, and they'll pick up. Like someone said, his vitality is something else.

Same here.

I'm not a fan of these sorts of collars.

There's something tacky.

I contacted a shirt maker about creating this style of collar. Evidently it's somewhat more complicated to make than a standard collar. His response: "There is no margin for error in these shirts because the neck is joined to the body and if the neck is the wrong size the complete shirt has to be replaced. There is a 40% up charge from our web prices for this cooper one-piece collar. If you do order from our luxury collection there is only a 20% up charge."

The beauty of this collar is that the interior--which is of course exposed when worn open--is beautifully finished. You never see the back side of the cloth or the seams.

There was a big article about KK in the WSJ last week.

I really don't think he's all that concerned about image as it said he only shops for clothes once a year.

He also apparently drives himself to his "nondescript" office in a Jeep Cherokee.

And, although he now lives in a house in Beverly Hills with his girlfriend, it said for years he lived in the guest house of another property he owned while renting the main house to Sylvester Stallone.

The guy is obviously more concerned about making money than about flaunting it.
