big wide belt with 'representative' clothing, OK or not?

I currently have a new job as a consultant/advisor for a tourism related company. Dress style for office and informal visits is casual, jeans with a long sleeve shirt seems to be the proper attire, as slong as it is somehow representative. I do need to buy some new shirts, but I was wondering if I can get away with one of my favourite belts, this is a 6 cm ( 2 3/8") wide belt from the german army. I really like wide big belts with my jeans.
Do you think it is OK to wear this belt with my jeans in a 'representative' function, or should I buy a different belt as well?
If not, any suggestions for nice wide belts for jeans that would be the proper attire? I would really appreciate your opinions or thoughts

Unless you are representing the German Army, I think you need a new belt. It may be serviceable as a jeans belt (de gustibus, etc.), but I think it wouldn't fly with anything more formal than that.

i would stick with something below 2 inches (5 cm) if I'm dealing with the public. Probably something in the 1 1/2 inch range.

Perhaps you could cut that belt in half, and then you would have two appropriate belts! I would get a new belt, and put that "Big Boy" away. It certainly is distracting! I would think that you might want to go "Low-key" at a new job, that is casual. So get a different belt.

Good luck on the new job, but change that belt.

Thanks for your advice. Just wanted to know how it looks to you. I guess I'll keep this belt for my personal streetwear then.
There is one other belt where I am wondering if it is OK to wear in a work setting or not, a black police belt. Since the color is more neutral it may be less distracting?

Otherwise I am thinking to buy a +- 2" wide jeans belt with a two prong rollerstyle buckle. Any suggestions where to buy a nice wide belt?
Ok this whole story may sound odd but i just like a wide belt and feel more comfortable wearing it than just a small dress belt.

If you just gotta wear the belts, then I would say you have to have some hefty boots as well. It would look a bit awkward with slim delicate shoes, a bit top heavy.

Neither of the two belts you have posted are appropriate unless you are a:

- Contractor
- Emergency Services Officer (Firefighter, Police, EMT, etc.)
- Professional Weightlifter
- Cable/TV/Phone repairman
- Any other service-oriented job that requires field work

Otherwise, it just doesn't look right and will attract unwarranted attention to your nether regions.

That German Army belt is essentially a Sam Browne type and looks out of place with anything except a military or police uniform, IMO.

Anything wider than 1 3/4 inches looks weird to me with civilian attire, and the latter width is really only appropriate with jeans and perhaps cargo pants and the like.

Thanks for your comments. I guess I'll keep those belts for my streetwear then, and I'll find another belt for the work environment.
Any suggestions where to buy for example a nice two prong jeans belt?
Most of the time the style is casual, jeans with a nice shirt.

I didn't intend to wear a wide belt with my suit. With my suit I'll need something that matches my shoes.
